هذا البيت هو واحد من ثلاثة وأربعين بيتًا في مطبوعتنا الفنية "موجز أحمد" التي تحتوي على أجود أبيات المتنبي، كثير منها جرى مجرى المثل، ومعظمها خلّدته ذاكرة العرب الجمعية (مرر الشاشة للاطلاع على المطبوعة). لم نقصِد من هذه الاختيارات مجرد عرض روائع شعره، وإنما تأليفها في نسَق منطقي يأخذ قارئها في رحلة شعرية، فالأبيات في كل صف يجمع بينها موضوع واحد وأوجه تشابه نترك للقارئ ومقتني اللوحة متعة اكتشافها وعقد الصلات بينها، فشعر المتنبي لا يُفهم بطريقة واحدة.

نأمل أن تقدم هذه المطبوعة الإلهام لمن يقتنيها، وأن ترشده في حياته مثلما يرشدنا الشعر في أرقى صورِه، فهذه الأبيات بها عصارة فكر المتنبي ونبراسه للحياة. وفيها من صدق التجربة وقوة العاطفة ما يجعلها مِصْداق لقول الشاعر
وإن أحسن بيت أنت قائله... بيت يقُال إذا أنشدته صدقا

Al Mutanabbi (c. 915 – 965) is one of the greatest Arab poets, if not the undisputed greatest. Over the centuries, his verses gained an indelible luster, combining the wisdom of philosophers and the sharp, insightful wit of everyday proverbs. In this art print, we display over 30 lines by Al Mutanabbi. Each of the selected lines is so iconic that it is immediately recognizable to Arabic speakers. The lines are organized in every row to tell a story, and to guide the reader on a poetic journey– one where Al-Mutanabbi tells us his recipe for a good life. The print combines verses by a 10th century Arab poet with a design from a 16th century Persian manuscript of poetry, showcasing our philosophy of reviving and re-imagining classical texts and Islamic art.
